I’ve always loved to read. As a child, I vividly remember having my favorite book, The Golden Book version of Bambi sitting on my nightstand – which I enjoyed reading over and over again. And ever since then, I’ve enjoyed the transformative power of reading a great story and always kept books (and now my kindle) close to me. When it was time to start college, I wasn’t really sure about what I wanted to study, until I realized that I could major in English Literature and read all the time! Well let’s just say I knew what I’d be doing for the next 4 years. After graduating from NYU with a BA in English Literature I realized that I could extend my joy of reading with others, so I went back to NYU to earn a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and taught children to read.
As the story goes, I got married, had kids of my own, and as they got older and more independent I was left with the question, what should I do next? I decided that in addition to raising my family, I could also sell houses, so I got my real estate license in 2005. The timing was off, but the upside of one of the worst real estate markets in history meant I could still spend a lot more time reading. It was during this time that I was introduced to the books of independent authors, and through social media, became close friends with many of them. Not being one to keep my mouth shut I began ranting about how great it was that so many of these authors are taking it upon themselves to get their words out there, but that they needed support in spotting typos, grammatical errors and continuity lapses in their work. I understand that it’s nearly impossible to edit your own work, so after speaking to one author friend she asked me to proof her latest project, and the rest as they say is history.
If you want someone with a keen eye for details, that will be attentive to your needs, appreciate your story and ensure that it’s presented to the public in its best form, then I’ll be there with you on this exciting journey.
